The prices can be pretty high as well.

Rich "The Wanderman"The Wandermanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12111895389728923307noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2154511856319682113.post-11665312320361391782012-06-24T13:33:56.887-07:002012-06-24T13:33:56.887-07:00On the topic of protecting equipment from burning ...On the topic of protecting equipment from burning out, synthetic lubricants are also a great way to decrease friction, decrease operating temps, decrease maintenance and increase MPG. Unlike petroleum products, synthetics don't form gums and varnishes like petroleum products do. Synthetics' superior metal to metal film strength protects all components from high temperature, frictional wear, and a synthetic's higher flash point decreases evaporation and oxidation. The lower pour points and freeze points of synthetics make cold weather starting easier on the battery.
I use Amsoil synthetic automatic transmission fluid in my tow vehicle, as well as all the other fluids like gear lube, brake fluid, power steering fluid and engine oil (Rotella T-6 synthetic 5W-40). I would use Castrol 5W-40 turbo diesel oil but I couldn't find it here in the States. I would use Amsoil engine oil as well, but it is easier to pick up the Rotella T-6 at Wal-Mart. Amsoil synthetic grease is also far better than petroleum based grease, in my opinion.
It seems that most equipment seals are now compatible with synthetics, and seal compatibility probably was never that much of a problem with synthetics. In my opinion, petroleum based fluids are really not a very good choice for longevity and trouble-free operation of equipment. I can't think of anything more important to the functioning of equipment than the fluids that protect it from friction, wear, heat, oxidation and evaporation.gracernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2154511856319682113.post-37736850473198741972012-06-23T08:15:32.179-07:002012-06-23T08:15:32.179-07:00Allison,
